Document formatter to meet the toughest requirements


DOC1 from the software development department at Pitney Bowes/Group1 is one of the core products in use at Rasterpunkt. Be it telephone bills, travel documents, insurance policies or deposit statements – almost ever consumer receives documents formatted with DOC1. The software is used by enterprises with large documents – high volume to meet the toughest needs in terms of adjustability, flexibility, personalization and performance. Rasterpunkt has been selling and supporting the software for more than 10 years and has a fundamental understanding knowhow of the product and a highly qualified team of people.


Modern User Interface


The DOC1 Designer has been completely modernized and adapted to general user interface standards. The page layout, text input and tables and image insertion is done much the same as common text processing programs. In addition formatted templates from text processing programs can be taken over unchanged ("Copy and Paste") in DOC1 Designer. This results in saving a great deal of time when developing new layouts.


Automatic availability of Print Resources


In comparison the earlier versions, the user no longer needs to concern himself with the print resources (typeface and images) in the target format. Almost all typefaces and picture formats available under Windows can be handled. When compiling design rules, resources are automatically converted to the target format (e.g. AFP, PCL or Metacode) and made available as a background process. If required print resources can be substituted manually via a mapped table.


Multi-Client and Multi-Language


With a KEY Technology it is possible to change objects, images and logic modules at any time. Equally, font styles can be defined at a central location to be able to make changes for entire documents. Shadow copies for multiple languages can be created for all text sections, controlled via a language indicator. Changing the language automatically adapts the data and date formats, currency and system messages.


User Access and Version Control


DOC1 Designer is designed for a client/server architecture. All elements are held in a central repository. This means that all users can access shared objects. When a user is created, all access rights are assigned according to the organizational unit. With the "Show History" and "Rollback" functions, older versions and elements can be displayed and restored.


Platforms und Output Formats


DOC1 Designer is a Windows application. The production module "doc1gen" is available for Windows, AIX, HP-UX, Sun Solaris, Linux, OS390 and AS400. PCL, AFPDS, PostScript, VPS, IJPDS, PDF, HTML and text data are available as output formats. A single run of doc1gen can produce a number of formats simultaneously (e.g. AFPDS und PDF).
